Custard apple crumble
Using custard apples gives this old favourite a fresh and exotic twist.
2 custard apples
2 green apples, sliced
½ cup plain flour
½ cup rolled oats
½ cup hazelnuts, roasted and chopped
½ cup brown sugar
½ cup pitted dates, chopped
Preheat oven to 180 degrees celcius.
Scoop flesh out of custard apples and discard seeds. Combine with sliced apples in a greased baking dish.
Mix together plain flour, rolled oats, chopped roasted hazelnuts, brown sugar and chopped pitted dates with a pinch of cinnamon.
Rub 100g chopped butter through mixture to make a crumble consistency.
Sprinkle crumble topping over fruit.
Bake for 30 minutes.
Serve with warm custard or ice-cream.
