Busking at South Bank
Buskers are an important part of South Bank – there’s nothing like the gentle strum of a guitar or the mystery of a magician to create a fun and enjoyable atmosphere. All of the details for busking at South Bank are listed below.
Short Term Permits
South Bank issues two types of short term permit:
- Short Term Permit - This applies to interstate or international performers who are in Brisbane for a short period of time (up to three months) and wanting to busk in the precinct.
- Special Short Term Permit - This applies to interstate or international performers who are in Brisbane for a short period of time (up to three months) and wanting to busk in the precinct using high risk elements in their performance such as ladders, fire, juggling knives, unicycles, balancing acts and so forth. Performing with whips is not permitted. For special permits, a copy of your Public Liability Insurance Certificate for a minimum of $20 million Australian dollars is required.
If you would like to apply for a short term permit, please fill out the short term busking permit form and submit it to firstname.lastname@example.org. Please also note that Brisbane Marketing’s decision on the allocation of busking licenses is final and no correspondence or comment will be entered into.
Applications for annual busking permits will be open until Friday 28 October 2016. To apply please fill out the annual busking permit form and submit to email@example.com.
Auditions will take place on Thursday 10 November and Saturday 12 November 2016 from 0900hrs – 1300hrs each day. If you would like to attend the auditions, you will need to complete an application form and submit a copy by Friday 28th October 2016. Walk-ins will not be accepted.
Please note if you are unable to attend the auditions hosted, unfortunately we are not in a position to make exceptions.
The auditions are taking place at The Courier-Mail Piazza, audition details will be confirmed by email to applicants at the beginning of November.
Please note that there are limited busking areas in South Bank Parklands. Brisbane Marketing’s decision on the allocation of busking licenses is final and no correspondence or comment will be entered into.
