Drones and aerial photography
To ensure that we comply with air safety regulations, the use of drones in the Parklands is strictly prohibited except with express written consent from South Bank Parklands management. Please complete an online application form and specify the time of day and location you wish to launch from, in the 'General Information' field.
Commercial photo/film shoots
South Bank is a busy precinct and to ensure that your required space is available at your time of shooting, we request that you fill out and submit a commercial photo and film shoot application form before heading onsite. To determine the location of your shoot before applying, please check out the official South Bank map. You must also ensure that you comply with the Photo and Film Shoot Guidelines and advise us at least one week in advance if your shoot involves any of the following: access to power; vehicles on site; or closure of public areas.
Non-commercial photo/film shoots
If your film/photo shoot is of a non-commercial nature, please submit the non-commercial photo and film shoot application form. Please ensure you read the non-commercial Photo and Film Shoot Guidelines, advise us of your filming location (as per the South Bank map) and whether you need access to power, vehicles on site or the closure of public areas.
A Location fee will apply to any Commercial projects, the provision of power supply or shoots requiring access to the Parklands outside of standard opening hours.
Photographers and film crews are unlikely to be approved for shoots on public holidays or during major events in the Parklands eg Australia Day, Christmas, Riverfire. Please check the What’s On calendar to see what else is happening in the Parklands on your preferred dates.
Some location restrictions may also apply during school holiday periods.
