Key facts
Brisbane is a diverse city - a green city with a perfect climate. It is a growing city with one of the fastest growing economies in Australia. It is a city of many small quirks from having our very own style of building (the ‘Queenslander’) to creating a swimming beach right in the middle of our CBD.

It’s all Greek to John
His Liberace fingers boast more gold than Gympie in its hey day, but the real gem is the man himself Yiannis Papadakis – or John The Greek. This West End fixture can be found six days a week sipping a skinny, flat white with chocolate sprinkles (it never changes), among the footpaths of the suburb almost as eclectic as himself. A large crocodile tooth hanging around his neck hints at a colourful past which began 77 years ago in a small Greek village some 175 kilometres from Athens.
