Fashion designers have been raising the style status and taking fashion with a distinctive Brisbane flavour. Easton Pearson, Juli Grbac and Sass & Bide have sketched, designed and constructed a reputation for Brisbane on the international stage.
Here are a few tips on the hot spots for fashion this winter.
- Brisbane will be showcasing the exclusive Valentino, Retrospective: Past/Present/Future exhibition at Australia’s largest Gallery of Modern Art (GOMA). 7 August - 14 November
- Take a shopping expedition on the Queen Street Mall, Queensland’s premier retail destination and home to 700+ specialty stores.
- Brisbane's vibrant urban villages also offer unique shopping experiences. Fortitude Valley’s James Street is where you can find many boutique retailers stocking the best of local and national threads. Head to Latrobe Terrace, Paddington for anything pre loved and explore the many antique stores, retro shops and vintage outlets.
- Suitcase Rummage - held the first Sunday of every month at King George Square, this unique market concept is a great place to pick up bargains and vintage finds.
- Head to The Fleet Store, located at Wintergarden on the Queen Street Mall, for your chance to purchase innovative fashion from some of Brisbane's best emerging designers. The pop-up store will be open until 30 October.
- Material Memories: Restaging the eCHO Project - taking place at the QUT Art Museum, this unique fashion exhibition is on until 22 August and showcases re-created pieces by some of Australia's most highly regarded fashion designers.
