About the Little Athens West End Greets
Chaírete! As Paniyiri is set to celebrate its 41st year, Brisbane Greeters in partnership with The Coffee Club are continuing the very special Brisbane Greek Story Trails around West End.
Being one of Brisbane's earliest suburbs, West End is one locale that has seen some of the greatest changes. By 1980, it was estimated that 75 per cent of Brisbane Greek population lived in the area and so it became known as “Little Athens”.
Discover more about West End’s Greek history, marvel at the beautiful and ornate Greek Orthodox Church of Saint George, hear stories about the Greek community and ‘Milk Bars’, and see Greek Architecture as you enjoy a leisurely stroll around West End with the Brisbane Greeters.
