A short stroll from The Barracks, this quaint cafe is nestled in a heritage-listed store. Run by Susannah Whitehouse and Candy Smith, Scout Cafe is a labour of love.
The building's 1920s brick walls have been hand-scraped to show their layers of history, and all the woodwork at Scout has been handcrafted by local artisan James Talty.
The breakfast menu is the star at Scout, offering everything from bircher muesli with fruit and yoghurt to scrambled eggs with creme fraiche and Welsh rarebit.
Gluten-free bread is also available and those wanting a light snack will enjoy the baked goods gracing the front counter. Lunch diners will love Scout's range of delicious lightly toasted bagels and sandwiches.
Open: Seven days a week from 7am-4pm.
Insider tip: Take a seat in the front room and enjoy the view from the bay windows that overlook the historical triangle of Hardgrave Park.
