The Isuzu Queensland Open championship is a highlight of an action-packed Australian summer of golf and forms part of the ISPS HANDA PGA Tour of Australasia.
Tournament director Luke Bates said he expected a strong field at the Yeerongpilly course due to its timing on the professional golfing calendar. He said the unique format allowed professionals and amateurs to compete against each other.
"It's a strong stepping stone for golfers, and the likes of Jason Day and Greg Norman have played in the championship on their way to becoming the world's No. 1 golfer,'' Mr Bates said.
In 2016 the title was snared by an amateur, Brett Coletta, who has since turned professional. The Queensland Open runs from 26-29 October.
