Get your football fix in Brisbane

Winter is when footy fever takes over Brisbane – so on your visit show your colours and rally behind the city's best. Get your fix of rugby league, union and AFL with a heap of games from local and international favourites. 

The National Rugby League competition, the Super Rugby union and the Australian Football League all kick things off during March each year, and Brisbane hosts a plethora of games from each of the codes. The Brisbane Broncos (rugby league) and the Queensland Reds (rugby union) share a home ground at what is probably the best rectangular stadium in the world, Suncorp Stadium.

The Brisbane Lions (Australian rules) call Brisbane's iconic Gabba stadium home, which also hosts domestic and international cricket fixtures during summer.

Starting early October, Australia's national soccer competition the A-League gets things started, with the Brisbane Roar consistently one of the most successful teams in the competition. They too play at Suncorp Stadium.
