Brisbane Greeters

You may have seen them around town in their bright red polos and white rattan hats.

They usually operate alone on small tours, but last week 75 of the 200-strong team of Brisbane Greeters together celebrated the program’s four years of success.

Since 2012, these passionate volunteer ambassadors have welcomed 30,000 visitors to Brisbane and have grown from a team of just 12.

“Brisbane is a safe and clean city full of friendly, helpful people ready to make your trip memorable – there’s a surprise around every corner and we love showing our visitors that,” Brisbane Marketing Chief Operating Officer Brett Fraser said of the anniversary.

He added that it was no surprise that Brisbane Greeters were currently ranked No.1 of 92 Tours & Activities in Brisbane on TripAdvisor.

Take your own greet

Brisbane Greeters

Experience Brisbane through the eyes of a local as your Greeter injects their own knowledge and passion into each free tour.

The current program is based around either leaving it up to the Greeter's Choice, or choosing interests or areas with a Your Choice tour.

Brisbane Greeters are currently also running three special tours including Quandamooka Greets (based around local indigenous dreamtime stories), Brisbane’s German Story, and World Science Festival Brisbane Greets (special science tours in conjunction with the event).

Brisbane Greeters are members of The Global Greeter Network and are among more than 100 Greeter programs throughout the world.
