23 things to do at South Bank

Glorious views, bustling eateries and tranquil spaces – whether you’re looking to fill an entire weekend or just a couple of hours, Brisbane’s favourite backyard is the place to be. 

River Quay
1. Grab a bottle of wine, rustle-up a cheese platter and sprawl on the grass at one of South Bank Parklands’ licensed greenspaces. Add a bonus point if you visit on a Sunday – there’s free live music at River Quay Green from 2-5pm. 
2. Climb aboard a CityCat or Brisbane’s free CityHopper for a divine inner-city river ride.
3. Visit a micro-brewery – The Charming Squire brews their own beer on site and hosts beer appreciation sessions and more throughout the year.
4. Pop down to GOMA, Brisbane’s very own, renowned art gallery. Their exhibits change throughout the year and are always worth the trip.
5. Grab a coffee or a bubble tea from Tapi and go for a walk through South Bank’s famous Arbour and Clem Jones Promenade. 

Cowch
6. Treat yourself to a sugar high at one of South Bank’s dessert cafes; Cowch, Max Brenner or San Churro.
7. Stop by the Queensland Maritime Museum to see the heritage-listed South Brisbane Dry Dock, the WW2 frigate HMAS Diamantina and more.
8. Soak up some sun or go for a dip at the Parklands’ free swimming facilities.
9. It's an oldie but a goodie - go for a spin on our answer to the London Eye, the Wheel of Brisbane.
10. Reminisce about days gone by at the Nepalese Pagoda, a remnant of Brisbane’s famed Expo 88.

19. Go burger crazy! South Bank has a host of American-inspired restaurants, including Brooklyn Depot, Bourbon Street, The Burger Project and Burger Urge. If burgers are not your thing, The Manhattan Line serves up authentic, USA-style hot dogs. 
20. Enjoy a fabulous day out at one of South Bank’s free events. There’s free kids activities, free live music and plenty of rotating events throughout the year. 

Stokehouse
21. Become the envy of all your friends with afternoon or evening cocktail session at Stokebar, located at the front of Stokehouse Q. Look at this view!
22. See the latest blockbuster in air-conditioned comfort (and for one of the cheapest prices in Brisbane!) at the South Bank Cineplex.
