Temporary closure of South Bank's water facility

Streets Beach

South Bank Parklands is one of Brisbane’s most popular destinations, receiving an estimated 10 million visitors each year. To ensure that the Parklands remain safe and beautiful for all visitors to enjoy, regular maintenance is conducted on every Parklands asset, all year round.

As part of this process, South Bank Parklands' Streets Beach will undergo essential maintenance works from 15 May until late September 2017 (weather permitting). To ensure that the works are carried out safely, the water and parts of the sand will be closed to visitors during this period.

The testing works this year are the critical first step to replace the Streets Beach lining to ensure it remains safe and structurally sound for the years to come.

Works will generally occur from 7am to 5pm, Monday to Friday. To ensure that the beach is re-opened as soon as possible for visitors, night works will also occur and some weekend work if required.

To minimise impact on the community, these works have been scheduled during South Bank’s quieter winter period. We will also ensure that South Bank’s other free water facilities, the Boat Pool and Aquativity, remain open during the works for visitors to enjoy.

Thank you for your patience during these essential works. If you have any questions, please contact South Bank on vicsouthbank@brisbanemarketing.com.au. If you would like to receive regular updates on the works and other happenings at South Bank follow us on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter.
