Whether you’re a Brisbane local or a visitor from out of town, this suite of family-friendly activities are must-dos at South Bank.

Snap a family photo with the BRISBANE sign. Gather round and strike a pose! This iconic piece of Brisbane is always ready and waiting for your next family portrait.

Let loose on the Riverside Green Playground. You haven’t seen a playground until you’ve seen this one! It comes complete with a pink skywalk, a toddle pirate ship and more.

Have a barbeque at Picnic Island Green. Grab some snags, pick up a loaf of bread, gather your favourite soft drinks and head to South Bank to use the free barbeques. 

Rainforest Walk
Explore the Rainforest Walk. Did you know that there’s a rainforest in the middle of the city? It’s called rainforest walk and it’s located in the heart of South Bank.

Spend a day at Little Days Out. Enjoy free activities like dance, soccer, science, art, music and more at this free kid-centric event. It’s on every Thursday from 9am-1pm in the South Bank Parklands.

Relive the 80’s at the Nepalese Pagoda. This stunning structure was hand-carved in Nepal and brought to South Bank for Expo ’88. Take the kids along and reminisce on all of your favourite 80’s memories.

City Sounds
Have a picnic in front at City Sounds. If you think this sounds like an activity for grown-ups, you haven’t seen the little ones dancing while a song is played! All music is low-key and relaxed, so it suits all ages.

Cool off at the Boat Pool. Forget running around under a sprinkler to beat the Queensland heat! Instead, enjoy a family game of marco-polo at South Bank’s free pool.
