At the centre of the small entirely black space a 7.5-metre long brass bar divides the room. Hanging pendants illuminate the slowly oxidising bench in this petite venue that seats just 18.
On one side Edward Quartermass is working his magic with the short, sharp drinks list that changes monthly. Expect anything from a classic negroni with house-infused vermouth to a tequila, watermelon, artichoke and lime mash-up. Arrive with an open and adventurous mind.
The aim is to keep everything local from the produce to the hard liquor. Wines are mostly offered by the glass, plus a couple of beer taps.
A small bar menu is also available. Food is prepped in the kitchen at sibling and neighbour Gauge (both owned by Sourced Grocer's Jerome Batten) before being assembled or cooked in Maker before your eyes.
