Super Whatnot

From late night music and revelry to quiet drinks with friends, Brisbane’s eclectic bar scene has a venue to suit every mood.

A wave of small bars have emerged within the Brisbane CBD and surrounding urban villages. Stumble down Burnett Lane in the city for Super Whatnot or Brew. Alternatively, enjoy West End’s The End, South Bank’s French Martini, The Scratch in Milton, Junk Bar in Ashgrove, or Auchenflower’s Deer Duck Bistro.

Sleek and stylish is covered in Fortitude Valley at late-night hotspots like Cloudland, or the city’s The Gresham, Riverbar and Jade Buddha.

For live indie music or a trendy place to spend the evening, Kerbside, Black Bear Lodge and Ric’s Bar provide creative atmospheres in Fortitude Valley. West End also fills this niche with popular and laid-back Archive, Lock 'n' Load Bistro and long-time favourite Rumpus Room.

Wine and Cocktail Bars

Slide into your seat and sip the night away at one of Brisbane’s many interesting wine and cocktail bars.

Try Canvas Cocktail and Wine Bar in Woolloongabba for creative cocktails, extensive wine and boutique beer lists and tapas or kick back at The Bowery or Laruche in Fortitude Valley and enjoy carefully designed cocktails. Claret House at Teneriffe, The Laneway in the city, or Next Door Kitchen & Bar in South Bank are some of the other must-visit dedicated wine and cocktail bars around Brisbane.

The Fox Hotel

Brisbane has a pumping nightclub scene with venues set across the city. Dance up a storm at the city’s The Fox, The Port Office and the Treasury Casino. The club scene in Fortitude Valley attracts local, national and international DJs and some of the premier hotspots include Cloudland, Empire Hotel, Oh Hello!, GPO and The Met.

Live music

Soloists, orchestras, jazz, hip-hop, choirs and rock bands all love performing across Brisbane. The city’s music scene is particularly strong in the entertainment precinct of Fortitude Valley. On any given day you’ll find international, national and local acts at Fortitude Valley’s The Zoo, Ric’s Bar, New Globe, X&Y Bar and The Tivoli.

One of only a few jazz clubs in the world to have a dedicated venue is the Brisbane Jazz Club at Kangaroo Point. This iconic riverfront venue remains a firm favourite among music lovers of all ages. Recently, the Doo-Bop Jazz Bar has popped up in the CBD to diversify the jazz scene and it embraces the relaxed nature of the genre.
