Yes, it’s time to again experience Queensland on a plate at Regional Flavours, South Bank's premier free food and wine festival. It's on 15 and 16 July.
As an Australian region, Brisbane and South East Queensland is often referred to as a "premium food bowl". Why is this so? Apart from the waterways and riverside rainforests being a significant drawcard for feasting for tens of thousands of years, Brisbane also happens to be rimmed by imposing volcanic mountain ranges, dating back millions of years. The legacy of this volcanic past is Australia’s most accessible World Heritage-listed rainforests and rich alluvial soil and remains the lifeblood of the region. This is why Brisbane is touted as Australia’s most biodiverse city and continues to inspire as a leading food destination.
About Brisbane’s Food Heritage Greeter Trail
This tour explores Brisbane’s food heritage and as such begins with Aboriginal bush foods and takes in the convict farms, early settlement agricultural expansion and contemporary production (even your own garden today) chapters, with some delicious paddock-to-plate tastes included … it’s a highly palatable journey indeed!
These 1.5-hour tours will be offered during the Regional Flavours event weekend on Saturday 15 July and Sunday 16 July – available from 10am - 2pm, starting on the hour (tours at 10am, 11am, midday, 1pm, 2pm).
Tours begin and end in the South Bank Parklands. Meeting place - look for your Greeter at the South Bank Piazza Box Office.
