Brisbane Ballet will premiere their upcoming season, Dichotomy, at the Queensland Multicultural Centre at Kangaroo Point on Friday December 11th at 7pm and Saturday December 12th at 2pm and 7pm. This is a double bill of two pieces, In Flux and Spectrum.
In Flux (part 1 of Dichotomy) choreographed by Emrys Goldsworthy.
Danced by 3 female and 2 male dancers with blood red and flesh as the colour palette. This post-classical ballet pays homage to neoclassical choreographers George Balanchine and Kenneth MacMillan with augmented balletic lines and flourishing turns and gravity defying lifts. Set to Edvard Grieg's Piano Concerto in A minor, In Flux will excite and breathe joyous life into audiences.
Spectrum (part 2 of Dichotomy) choreographed by Emrys Goldsworthy.
5 dancers together and apart express the range of internal dialogues and emotions. Their relationships and self talk are on display in this dynamic and emotionally charged contemporary dance work. With cinematic orchestral music by Joby Talbot, Spectrum will surprise audiences with Brisbane Ballet's venture into uncharted choreographic territory.
