OzManouche is a festival dedicated to jazz manouche held in Brisbane at the Brisbane Jazz Club from 28th November to 1st December 2019. This years Australian artists include The Date Brothers (IRE, NSW) performing with Shenzo Gregorio (QLD) on violin. Catfish (VIC), Jane Morris Quartet (TAS), Cigany Weaver (QLD), Salon Noir Sextet (QLD, TAS) and guitarist, Jon Delaney (VIC) performing solo. The all-female gypsy jazz collective, Tilly Bébé will feature Helen Russell (QLD) on bass, Jen Hawley (VIC) on guitar, and Loretta Palmeiro (NSW) on clarinet and saxophone, Kay Sullivan (QLD) on accordion and vocalist bandleader Pauline Maudy (QLD). The exceptional Dutch Sinti gypsy guitarist, Lollo Meier will be performing with an Australian version of his band featuring Loretta Palmeiro (Spyglass Gypsies) on clarinet and soprano saxophone.
The well-received Sunday Brunch Duo Special returns with this year’s musicians and guests being paired together to perform. There will also be instrumental workshops on guitar, clarinet and violin. Each concert event will feature two bands playing and a third set jam session led by festival patron, Ian Date.
