Rebecca Wilkie's Mosaic Workshops are intended to be instructive, creative and fun. She prefers to have a maximum of six students at a time. That way, it’s fairly relaxed, each of you will have her attention as required and she can cater for individuals requests. Her workshops often have a mix of beginners and more advanced returning students which is a really great mix and produces a very inspiring experience.
She offer one, two and three full day workshops. They start at 8:30am with a short introduction to mosaic art history, techniques, tools and adhesives. She then jumps straight into practice cutting and shaping tesserae while you make a start on your mosaic artwork. Her aim is for each student to complete their mosaic artwork by the end of the day. Her beginner workshop includes all materials to create a picture mosaic sized at 25cm x 35cm, refreshments and a delicious sit down lunch. The day concluding at 4pm.
For the more advanced mosaicists, you can try your hand at birdbaths, side tables, larger tabletops, mirror frames, planter pots, timber chairs and many other substrates that she will advise you on how to prepare it for your workshop.
