In this workshop, you will understand and apply the theory of colour.
This workshop is perfect for beginners and for people who like to paint and that would like to get a better understanding of how colours work! You will be taught the rules of colour theory, application and how to break those rules with analogous and complementary contrast and split complementary rules.
This includes useful information like how to identify warm and cool colours correctly, choose and mix colours for a successful limited palette painting, the role of colour temperature in distancing an object, among others.
This is a study class so the outcomes will not include finished paintings, but you will get to complete developmental colours and studies on a canvas. You are welcome to bring a printed copy of any famous painting you like, so we can together analyse the theory of colour used. Painting materials are provided.
At the end of the workshop, you will understand how colours work together. You will take home canvas boards with your developmental colours and studies on them. All the knowledge you will gain is fundamental, so you can continue at home and apply it to your paintings.
