For 57 years, Brisbane Writers Festival has celebrated the wonder of literature and leading writers. This year they celebrate the core of what it means to be human through story, the big ideas and thought-provoking writing with a stellar lineup of international and national writers such as Jasper Fforde, Benjamin Law, Rosalie Ham, Karen Thompson Walker, Mikey Robins, Gemma Hartley, Eve L. Ewing, Melissa Lucashenko, Clementine Ford, Omar Sakr, Solli Raphael and many more.
At BWF their aim is to connect Queenslanders through story, celebrate leading writers and thinkers from around the world and inspire deep thought and curiosity. For the past 57 years Brisbane Writers Festival has been bringing communities together to debate, share experiences and celebrate the power and wonder of literature. Brisbane Writers Festival this year has a strong commitment to showcasing First Nations storytellers and writers as they mark the UN Year of Indigenous Languages. Opening the festival for them this year they have Baker Boy, the Indigenous Australian rapper, actor, dancer and Young Australian of the Year at the Marion Taylor Opening Night Gala.
Brisbane Writers Festival 2019 will be held from 5 to 8 September 2019 at the State Library of Queensland and QAGOMA.
