Local and state-wide travel
Queenslanders are able to travel anywhere in Queensland for any purpose at any time.
Current restrictions:
The Queensland Government’s Roadmap to Easing Restrictions outlines a staged approach to travel, gathering with family, friends and the community, and operating a business.
Current restrictions:
- Gatherings in private homes and public spaces will be restricted to a maximum of 10 people. These limits do not apply to businesses operating under a COVID Safe plan.
- Residential aged care and disability accommodation facilities have restrictions on visitors and residents leaving the facility
- Hospitals have been asked to restrict visitors as soon as possible
- Hospital emergency departments, aged care facilities and disability accommodation facilities will use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including face masks and gloves to treat all patients and residents.
- Maximum number of persons at museums, art galleries, libraries and historic sites determined by the one person per 4 square metre rule.
- Maximum number of customers for a business at any one time is determined by the 4 square metre rule.
- For smaller venues below 200 square metres, businesses can have one person per 2 square metres up to 50 persons at a time.
- Up to 25,000 spectators or 50% of capacity (whichever is lesser) at Queensland’s Major Sports Facilities, with a COVID Safe Plan.
- Concert venues, theatres and auditoriums can open and have up to 50% capacity or one person per 4 square metres (whichever is greater), with a COVID Safe Plan.

Interstate travel
From midday 10 July, anyone can enter Queensland unless they have been in a COVID-19 hotspot in the last 14 days. Victoria, NSW and ACT are currently shut to Queensland but exemptions apply.
As part of the Queensland Government’s enhanced border control measures, anyone wishing to enter Queensland must apply for a Queensland Border Declaration Pass. More information here.
International travel
Travel into Australia has been restricted to Australian citizens, residents and their immediate family members only. In addition, all Australian citizens and permanent residents have been prohibited from travelling out of Australia unless granted an exemption.
