Where to go glamping in Brisbane

Like the idea of camping but hate the idea of bush toilets, sleeping on the floor and going without life’s luxuries? The good news is that the Brisbane region is filled with plenty of glamping experiences to be had.

Sanctuary by Sirromet, Redlands

Sanctuary by Sirromet

Surrounded by paperbark trees and scribbly gums, these newly minted eco tents appear to 'float' above the landscape, giving you private treehouse views from the deck. Located at Sirromet Winery, this is Queensland's only winery 'glamping' experience and onsite there is plenty to do from dining at the award-winning restaurant Lurleens, taking a winery tour and tasting or playing SupaGolf.

The next morning, a locally sourced breakfast hamper of croissants, yoghurt and granola, bagels and smoked salmon plus juice and coffee will be delivered to your door. Slowly take in the tranquil bushland setting over coffee while watching kookaburras laugh and nature wake up with you.

This glamping escape is a short 30-minute drive from Brisbane.

Minjerribah Glamping, North Stradbroke Island

After a successful pop up stint in 2016, Minjerribah Camping has brought luxury back to the shores of Stradbroke, installing permanent beachside tents at Adder Rock. Set in their own little grove of shady trees, these super cute bell tents contain a comfortable bed, Armadillo interior rugs, bamboo deck chairs and cosy lighting. Relax in style and fall asleep next to the ocean. Bliss.

Minjerribah Camping has sites all over the island, including eco cabins at Amity Points and beachfront, dog-friendly BYO tent sites at Flinders Beach and Main Beach.

Nightfall Wilderness Camp, Scenic Rim

Nightfall Wilderness Camp

For the ultimate luxury glamping experience – Nightfall is the one. Perched beside the crystal-clear Christmas Creek and Lamington National Park, the three large architect-inspired, hand-built safari tents feature king-size beds, organic linen, rain-head showers, vintage meal baths, a wood fireplace and micro-kitchen.

Staying in never looked so appealing.

Castaways, Moreton Island

On an island made entirely of sand, sometimes you need a break from just that. Castaways at Bulwer on Moreton Island has a range of accommodation including nine safari tents with wooden deck floors, big beds and a real bathroom.

Spicers Canopy, Scenic Rim

Spicers Canopy

Spicers Canopy is home to 10 safari tents that can be either booked by groups or by doing the Scenic Rim Trail. The trail is a four-day eco-walk through the mountains, valleys, forests and volcanic plateaus of the Scenic Rim. The trail stays at Spicers Canopy for two nights, and the luxury Spicers Peak on the final evening.

Mount Barney Lodge, Scenic Rim

Mount Barney Lodge

Mount Barney Lodge has it all – from primitive camping to renting out a whole Queensland homestead. On the property there are two rustic cabins for a simple country retreat, or try the deluxe camper trailers fitted out with a gas stove, running water, power and lights for a glamping experience.

Lake Somerset Holiday Park, Somerset

Need a glamping experience that'll also entertain the kids? Lake Somerset Holiday Park has a number of safari tents available on the property. For fun, everyone can play the 18-hole mini golf, explore the lake, hire canoes, barbecue and (in season) watch movies under the stars.

Binna Burra Lodge, Scenic Rim

Binna Burra Lodge

Ditch the hassle of putting up a tent and hire a canvas cabin, the safari-style tent accomodating up to 6 people. Everyone can get a peaceful nights sleep upon their own mattress and be ready for a big day exploring Lamington National Park.

Tamborine Mountain Caravan and Camping, Scenic Rim

Waking up to fresh mountain air is always better in a bed, and it sure is hard to fit a bed inside a regular sized tent. Instead, opt for the deluxe safari tents at Tamborine Mountain Caravan and Camping that feature double beds and bunk beds, inside kitchen with microwave, bar fridge, kettle and toaster, gas barbecue, camp fire and table and chairs.

Coming soon: Green Mountain Campground, O'Reilly's Rainforest Retreat, Scenic Rim
