Bulimba Ferry Terminal

Day 1

5pm – Check in

Treat yourself to a night at Number 12 Bed and Breakfast, your very own home away from home. Sit on the balcony of this 1907 Queenslander and overlook the beautifully manicured gardens. Here you can enjoy all the modern facilities surrounded by beautiful antique furnishings.

6pm – Watch the sunset from The Jetty Oxford

Enjoy a breezy sunset while sipping a cocktail as you overlook the Brisbane River at The Jetty Oxford. Try the Casanova cocktail, or if you’re feeling particularly brave, The Walking Dead cocktail.

7.30pm – Dinner time

To enjoy the best of Brisbane’s outdoor dining stay for dinner at The Jetty Oxford, or wander downtown to Yum Yum Gyoza House on Oxford St where you can enjoy a fresh fusion of Japanese and Chinese cuisine. Alternatively enjoy modern Australian cuisine at Chill Bar and Dining, where you will also be pleasantly surprised by the boutique wine and cocktail menu.

10pm – Treat yo’self

Nom Nom Natural Gelato

If you’re a bit of a sweet tooth (like the best of us), try an éclair in every flavour at Gateaux Café and Dessert Bar, or if you want something fresh, seek out Sugo Mi’s hidden gelato bar and do not miss out on trying the marshmallow gelato. There is also Nom Nom Gelato on the main strip. Alternatively, a late night hot chocolate at Max Brenner may be all you need, or share a late night fondue for two.

Day 2

8am – Take a stroll

Take a relaxing morning stroll along the Brisbane River and look across to the shores of Teneriffe. Stop by the recently refurbished heritage-listed Bulimba Ferry Terminal that has been in operation since 1925. When the caffeine craving kicks in, stop in at Belissimo for your coffee hit.

10am – Brunch o’clock

Some of the best Acai Bowls in town!

Brunch is quite possibly the most important meal of the day. Head to French Twist for a pastry haven, simple treats at hole-in-the-wall BeVine Café, breakfast on the go from Oxford St Bakery, or try Coco Bliss if you’re looking for a healthier option. Decadence is the flavour of the day at Sarmic and with a menu specialising in brunch, your mouth is sure to water at the aromatic scents.

12.30 – Find the perfect gift

Bulimba really delivers when it comes to shopping. Visit House for a stunning range of gifts, homewares and clothing, or to Green Grass for the perfect gift that you won’t find anywhere else. Search Thousand Island Dressing for the perfect jewel or accessory, and Victor Scott for its variety of home and gift ideas.

4pm – Let yourself be pampered

Lads can head to retro-style Jack’s Barber 4171, old-school yet modern Mr Hackett Luxury Barber or the edgy Moustachery for a fresh cut. Ladies, we haven’t forgotten about you, ditch the boys' club mentality and head to Barber Girl where you can get a fabulous ‘do minus the fuss (and the queue and three-month early appointment).

7pm – Dinner and a show

Balmoral Cineplex is a testament to the cinema of yesteryear, and you are certain to receive value for your money. Originally an open-air cinema built in the 1900s, the Cineplex is now state of the art. However, select your film wisely to ensure that you are seated inside the beautiful red-velvet-lined Cinema 1.

Before you head to the cinema, grab a bite to eat at pizza and pasta haven Sugo Mi, traditional yet contemporary Downtown Istanbul, go-to Mexican restaurant La Quinta or the sumptuous Red Galanga.

9pm – Bar hopping

If you’re looking to kick on, one of Bulimba’s best spots is the Oxford Tap House for a sip or two from its wide range of craft beers. Hop on to Barcadia where you can entertain yourself on the pinball machines with snacks and craft beers. Sink into one of the comfortable lounges at Oxford 152 where you can sip away the evening while feasting on some of Brisbane’s best produce. End your evening by visiting the alluring Blind Tiger, a cosy little nook where you will find damn fine cocktails and a variety of craft beers on tap.

Day 3

9am – Breakfast of champions

Kick off the day with breakfast from one of the places you didn’t get to try yesterday. Other favourites in the area include the impressive Pompidou Café and the British Colonial Co. who know what the people want and offer all-day brunch.

10am – Shop ‘til you drop

Hunt out unique fashion finds throughout Bulimba and Hawthorne. Visit Frankie and the Fox for quirky women’s fashion, the stylish Little Red Dress which offers a range of trendy Australian brands, or the fresh and fashionable Side Street. Head to Fuel Clothing Co for the ultimate in skate and street fashion, or the elegant White Label Noba for locally made designs. If you have any energy (or money) left to continue on, visit Etre to update your wardrobe with bold and trendy looks or snap up a bargain from second-hand clothing store The Labels. Definitely be sure to treat yourself to something at luxury mineral cosmetics store Issada.

Midday – Sunday Lunch

Delizioso on Oxford in Bulimba

Rest your feet and recharge your batteries over lunch. Head to Willes Fine Foods or Spoon for a quick and simple lunch, or try the modern flavours on offer at British Colonial Co, such as the spicy sukuk sausage or the sweet corn za’atar arancini. Get a taste of the Mediterranean at Ambrosia & Co, or for a heartier lunch, head to Delizioso for Italian delights or visit Hawthorne Garage for a delightful lunch followed by a browse through the deli and grocer.

1pm – Search for treasures

You are guaranteed to find a treasure along Oxford St. Head to I Love Lights to find the perfect ambiance for any occasion, or visit Side Street Vintage for vintage and home-made furniture, homewares and jewellery. If you love a rumble, try Anne’s Second Hand Shop where you are sure to find a gem for less. Send flowers to that special someone – Flowers on Oxford offers beautiful blooms for any occasion, or try Stalks and Stems for a wide variety of arrangements.

2.30pm – Get lost in a book

Love the smell of a good book? Us too. Dive headfirst into Riverbend Books, one of Brisbane’s best independent bookstores, and while away some time finding your next read. Keep an eye out for special author talks, book launches and more. Be sure to stop for afternoon tea at Double Shot Café on the deck outside.

4pm – Take your afternoon nap

Bulimba Park

Exhausted from your big morning of eating and shopping? Take a siesta in the sunshine. Bulimba Riverside Park overlooks the Brisbane River to the old woolstores of Teneriffe and is dog friendly. Off Oxford St, Bulimba Memorial Park is home to large weeping figs that were planted between 1919 and 1923 as tribute to the service men killed in WWI.
