Brisbane’s best new experiences - Visit Brisbane

Brisbane’s best new experiences

If you’re headed to one of Brisbane’s world-class sporting and cultural events, make the most of your stay with these unforgettable and inspiring experiences.

A bustling urban metropolis surrounded by glorious natural wonders, adventure awaits in Brisbane with new experiences constantly adding to the Brisbane bucket list. From aerial pub crawls to luxury glamping and authentic cultural experiences, here’s just a sampling of what Brisbane has to offer.

River to Bay

River to Bay

All aboard! River to Bay is putting a unique twist on the old-fashioned pub crawl, with their fleet of jet boats ferrying passengers along the Brisbane River to the best breweries in town. From Brewdog to Sealegs, this is a unique way to explore what the River City has to offer, with day and night tours on offer.

If a pub crawl’s not your thing, River to Bay also offers tours of beautiful Moreton Bay and its islands, giving you a chance to experience some of Queensland’s most beautiful locations. Book your tour today.

Go Boat

Go Boat

Now you don’t have to choose one backdrop for your picnic. With GoBoat’s new eco-friendly (and user-friendly) electric boats, expected to launch in May, you can pack the picnic basket and cruise along the Brisbane River. With no license or experience required to drive, each GoBoat fits eight people (it’s doggo friendly, too!) around a large picnic table and comes complete with a sunshade. Just BYO captains hat, cheese selection, tipple of choice and set sail.

Elite Helicopters

Another operator putting a fresh spin on the pub crawl, Elite’s extensive fleet of helicopters will fly you to pubs, vineyards and wineries in the Brisbane, Ipswich, Scenic Rim and Somerset regions while you sit back, relax and enjoy breathtaking views.

As well as their popular pub crawl and winery tour options, Elite offers scenic flights to Minjerribah / North Stradbroke Island and Moreton Bay; high-adrenaline river runs with the doors open, flying through tight turns and bends as low as you can legally go in a helicopter; and a variety of adventure tours combining a day out in a helicopter with go karting, water skiing, V8 Supercars, mountain biking, and even a ride in a tank through a secret military base.

If it can be done in a helicopter, Elite Helicopters can get it done for you.

Brisbane Distillery

Brisbane Distillery

Brisbane’s first grain-to-glass artisan distillery is crafting gins, rum and botanical vodkas in the City. When you visit the distillery, you’ll be able to taste their wares at the tasting bar, and then hear firsthand from their master distiller how their grain-to-glass process makes for such smooth, pure spirits.

If you want to stay for the afternoon, you can extend the experience and enrol in Gin School, where you’ll distil your very own custom blend to take home and enjoy. That’s one heck of a souvenir.

The Brisbane Distillery and Gin School is open on the corner of Jane Street and Montague Road, West End, from 11am to 10pm, Tuesday to Thursday; 11am to midnight on Fridays and Saturdays; and noon to 6pm on Sundays. Make your reservation here.

City Winery

City Winery

A working micro-winery sourcing grapes from handpicked growers across Australia’s key wine regions, City Winery is Brisbane’s first inner-city winery since 1860.

Luckily, it was worth the wait – all their wines are made by hand and with love, and can be paired with a paddock-to-plate dining experience at their modern Australian restaurant. All produce served at the restaurant comes from small farmers typically located within a three-hour drive of Brisbane.

City Winery is based in a converted warehouse at 11 Wandoo Street, Fortitude Valley, where winery tours run at 11am and 3pm each day, and cellar door tastings are available all day. Private function spaces are also available for groups of up to 150 people.

City Winery also offers a Cellar Door and Wine Experience Centre in the CBD at 162 Edward Street, Brisbane City. City Winery is open from 11am to 10pm on Tuesdays and Wednesdays; 11am to 11pm from Thursday to Saturday; 11am to 9pm on Sundays; and on Mondays by appointment. Make your reservation here.

Kiff & Culture

Kiff Culture

Looking for the best tasting spots and watering holes in Brisbane? Kiff & Culture's food and drink experiences have you covered!

Kick off with drinks at Southside’s Kiki Kiosk bar - a crowd favourite located in Fish Lane. Then settle in for a five-course banquet lunch with an East Asian twist – drunken scallops with fermented chilli jam, duck ragu, pork and prawn sui mai with caviar, truffle spring rolls. Pair it up with an optional wine-matching experience or drinks package – you can’t go wrong.

Next stop – City Winery for a wine tasting experience like none other. It might be in the heart of the city, but the grapes hark from the vines of Australia’s world-class wine regions including the Barossa and Yarra Valleys.

Still thirsty? To round out the afternoon, choose between Australia’s celebrated Stone and Wood Brewery and Grandad Jacks Distillery.
