Located at the Queensland Museum and at venues across the city, the World Science Festival will showcase over 120 events from 24 – 28 March including free performances, outdoor family activities, installations as well as online conversations.

There really is something for all curious minds! So where to begin?

Saturday 27th March 2021

Fuel your adventure with one of Brisbane’s Best Breakfast. Whether its poached eggs on sourdough or an acai bowl, your stomach will be left feeling full and your mind curious for the exciting, jam-packed weekend ahead.

Dive into the Coral Watch and learn how you can help protect one of Queensland’s most iconic landmarks, the Great Barrier Reef. If you prefer to have your feet on the ground, then your options are endless. Learn the maths and forces behind Sport and Science or explore the phenomena behind air and pressure in The Big Bang Show.

Do you wonder what life will be like in the future? Get your creative juices flowing as City of the Future encourages you to anticipate what a city might look like in 2060.

If you’re more interested in food, then join the Future Foods program and explore the exciting opportunities including test tube steaks and 3D printed desserts.

As the sun goes down, it’s time to explore the museum and the mysteries of the deep, in an adult only After Dark experience.

After an eventful day, freshen up, let your hair down and relax as you head out to Howard Smith Wharves to enjoy a cocktail or two as you watch the sunset over the Brisbane River.

Sunday 28th March 2021

Rise and Shine, it’s the final day for the World Science Festival and don’t we have an exciting day installed for you and your family.

Kids are fascinated with all things gooey, sticky and slimy so lucky for them we have the perfect science session. Gross Science will put on a show teaching your kids the science behind making slime and all things icky and gooey.

If they prefer the outdoors, then take part in Curiocity, discovering the interactions and immersive installations throughout Brisbane.

Now, something for the adults. Nothing is more Sunday than a cold beer. Beer isn’t just tasty, its full of science and one of humanity’s first great experiments. Join the conversation in Science of Beer and learn the secrets to brewing.

If you’re all scienced out, then it’s time to explore Brisbane’s greatest attractions. Whether you’re taking in the fresh air at Mt Coot-Tha, getting a taste of Brisbane in Eat Street or spending the afternoon kayaking to the ship wrecks at Moreton Island, you won’t be left disappointed.
