Disney's Aladdin The Hit Broadway Musical | Until 3 June

With breathtaking sets, mind-blowing special effects, over 300 lavish costumes and a fabulous cast – catch the magic of Disney’s Aladdin on stage when it arrives at the Lyric Theatre in February. The musical production includes all your favourite Disney songs and some additional new music. 

Queensland Reds | Until 14 July 

Show your colours and get to Suncorp Stadium to support the Queensland Reds this season. The boys need all your support behind them as they tackle some tough competition. 

Queensland Firebirds | Until 4 August 

Following previous wins in past years, more games will be taken to the 10,000 capacity Brisbane Entertainment Centre – allowing more supporters than ever before to experience the thrill.

Patricia Piccinini: Curious Affection | Until 5 August 

Globally renowned for her adventurous use of sculpture, installation, video and sound to create imaginative hybrid creatures, Piccinini is bringing her recognisable collection from the last ten years and showing it exclusively at GOMA. 

Egyptian Mummies: Exploring Ancient Lives | Until 26 August 

Featuring more than 200 artefacts from the world famous Egyptian collections of the British Museum, this exhibition help at the Queensland Museum will let you gain insight into the life and death of six individuals who lived in Egypt between 3000 and 1800 years ago.

NRL Broncos |Until 2 September

The Broncos 2018 season will see major rivals return to Suncorp Stadium in head to head clashes. Can they go all the way this year? Show your colours and support your team at their home games. 

Brisbane Lions | Until 29 September 

Get your mates together and storm the Gabba. The first home game of the season will kick off against Essendon and you’re guaranteed to see spectacular marks, impossible goals and amazing action all around you!

Celebrate the birthday of Gautama Buddha with free entertainment for the whole family. The largest in the world, these celebrations span over three days with cultural displays, live performances and vegetarian food.

Anywhere Theatre Festival | 10 – 27 May

The 2014 Anywhere Theatre Festival

The nooks and crannies of Brisbane will explode with over 500 performances in places you least expect it to. Theatre in car parks, comedy in laneways, opera in reservoirs, dance in stairwells and quirky workshops exploring arts and craft from cooking to jewellery. 

NRL Double Header | 12 May

Suncorp Stadium’s legendary double-header is back again and this year the Broncos are facing off against the Manly Sea Eagles and the Gold Coast Titans will go up against the Melbourne Storm. Usually a sell-out event, get tickets as soon as possible.

Mother’s Day Classic Run & Walk | 13 May 

Wear your best pink clothes and get involved in the Mother’s Day Classic to raise awareness and funds for breast cancer research. The annual fun run and walk is a fun way to get the family outdoors on Mother’s Day and to support a good cause – nobody could miss the sea of pink swarming around Brisbane.

Melt Festival |17 - 27 May 

Laugh, cry, gasp and play, MELT is Brisbane’s chance to embrace the last of the heat and celebrate Brisbane’s vibrant LGBTQI+ community.

Paniyiri Greek Festival | 19 & 20 May

Get your Greek on at this year’s Paniyiri Festival in West End. Various performances are held over the weekend to keep you groovin’ as all the food stalls stop you from movin’. Indulge yourself with Souvlaki, Moussaka, Loukoumades and Baklava before you dance the night away.

Stargazing Live - Guinness World Record Attempt | 23 May

Join hosts Dr Karl and Jimmy Giggle at Roma Street Parkland for an evening of fun and excitement, as we try to set a new Guinness World Record for stargazing. Pack a picnic and your telescope, purchase treats from the onsite food trucks, and participate in fun and informative stargazing activities. Note: every participant must have binoculars or a telescope.

Niall Horan Flicker World Tour | 3 June 

One fifth of One Direction will be bringing his fine voice and looks down under to put on a huge show at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre. 

Qantas Wallabies v Ireland | 9 June 

It's never too cold to enjoy a game of Union. Start off the winter month right and cheer on the Qantas Wallabies as they go up against Ireland at Suncorp Stadium. 

QPAC’s Out of the Box | 26 June - 1 July 

Get your little ones creative and take them along to Out of the Box. Kids eight and under can enjoy eight days of cultural activities that celebrate and support learning, play, curiosity and discovery. 

OperaQ’s The Merry Widow | 22 – 30 June

Graeme Murphy directs a fresh take on Franz Lehar’s The Merry Widow, starring two of Australia’s most charistmatic opera performers David Hobson and Natalie Christie Peluso. Setting this classic operetta amid the Art Deco glamour of Paris gives new life to the traditional love story between Hanna and her playboy ex-lover Danilo. 

OperaQ’s Opera Romance | 28 June

Celebrate the careers of Antoinette Halloran and Rosario La Spina as they share backstage stories and perform their favourite opera arias and duets. Antoinette and Rosario will be joined by members of the Open Stage Community Chorus for this one-evening-only performance.

Scenic Rim Eat Local Week | 30 June – 8 July

Taste food and wine from the Scenic Rim at this festival of farm tours, cooking classes, producer dinners, pop-up cafes and other free or low-cost activities. Connect with your farmers and learn about where food comes from. Star event, the Winter Harvest Festival, will be held on July 7.

Brisbane Times City2South | TBA

Tie up your laces and run the streets and bridges of the city at this year’s City2South. The winter breeze will keep you cool as you run the scenic route along the Brisbane River and through West End – easy to scope out the best cafes for an after run coffee.

State of Origin Game III | 11 July 

State of Origin will be turning mate against mate with what could be the deciding match at Suncorp Stadium on 11 July.

Supercar Championships - Coates Hire Ipswich SuperSprint | 20 - 22 July 

Nicknamed "The Paperclip" due to its six-turn design and lack of elevation, Queensland Raceway is a thrilling track to watch V8 supercars sprint around the course.

Royal Queensland Show (Ekka) |10 - 19 August

The Ekka

Queensland’s largest annual event is back for its 142nd year. Held over 10 full days, the Ekka showcases life and achievements in the Sunshine State and welcomes visitors from all across Queensland and Australia to the heart of Brisbane. The event has grown from 17,000 visitors in its first year in 1876 and now averages over 400,000 visitors.

Brisbane Marathon Festival | 5 August

Get involved in the 27th annual Brisbane Marathon Festival and impress all your friends by running a deathly distance. Run the full 42.2km marathon or 21.1km half marathon, or go a little lighter and run/walk the 10km, 5km or 2.2km kids run – all distances are equally impressive. 

Katy Perry: WITNESS The Tour | 8 & 10 August

Bridge to Brisbane Day | 26 August

For the 22nd year Valley Fiesta is set to take over the streets, malls and laneways of Fortitude Valley for its free, all-ages festival in October.

Oktoberfest Brisbane | 5 - 7 & 12 - 14 October 

Don your dirndl and lederhosen and get to the Brisbane Showgrounds to take part in Oktoberfest. Indulge in tradition and try bratwurst, pork knuckles (Schweinshaxe), and Black Forest cake (Schwarzwalder Kirschtorte) with a side of German-brewed beer.
