Wellington Point: seaside suburb south of Brisbane
Perched on the tip of a peninsula, Wellington Point is a bustling, friendly seaside suburb in the Redlands. On weekends the water is enjoyed to the fullest by locals and visitors who head to this village located 22km south-east of Brisbane. Here are a few things you can do at Wellington Point.
Watersports

Bordered by water on both sides, Wellington Point is, not surprisingly, known as a great spot for fishing, boating and various water sports. Adventurous water pursuits such as jetskiing, windsurfing and kitesurfing are common sights at Wellington Point.
Fishing or walking the pier

The long pier is the ideal spot to cast your fishing line and exchange stories with local and visiting anglers, who gather there in droves. It’s also a popular spot to walk dogs in the morning or evening.
Walk to King Island

Reaching King Island is all about timing. At low tide a sand bank will appear - a 1km pathway to reach the small island. The island is a conservation park with sandy pathways and mangrove trees. Just keep an eye out that the bank doesn’t disappear on you. Dogs are allowed on leash during the week only.
Picnic
With plenty of grassy spots and tables, it's the perfect spot to enjoy a picnic and bask in the sunshine. Nearby local fish 'n' chip shops will provide a bounty of goodness, or get organised and BYO picnic set-up. Kids will love playing in the big fig trees or chasing blue soldier crabs at low tide.
Go kayaking

Redlands Kayak Tours depart from a few locations including Wellington Point. Tours explore the stunning blue Moreton Bay waters, paddling around the many islands that dot the southern half of the bay.
Challenge your taste buds
No trip to the Redlands is complete without trying a Mega Death Burger – the Everest of food challenges at Off The Wall Diner in Wellington Point. Sure, the name may seem a tad dramatic, but this burger is infamous for being one of the hottest meals on the planet. If you make it through, you will be inducted into the Death Burger Immortals with your name added to the wall.
