Pig n Whistle, Fortitude Valley

Planted on the corner of Robertson and Brunswick Sts, this trendy brick and tiled bar quickly became a fast favourite with Brisbane locals. Watch passers-by from the street-level beer garden or head downstairs for a private courtyard out back. 

The Wickham, Fortitude Valley

This popular pub with the gay community recently underwent a full face-lift, and what was once the venue’s empty car park is now an outdoor valley oasis with rustic wooden furniture, greenery and glowing lanterns overhead.  

The Triffid, Teneriffe

Owned and operated by Powderfinger bassist John Collins, The Triffid is one of Brisbane’s best local live music venues. To top it off, its huge industrial-cool beer garden is open to everyone, even if you don’t have a ticket to the gig. Make sure you check out the tape deck mural.

Stock Exchange, Brisbane City

This classic inner-city hotspot recently underwent renovations and now offers a fantastic rooftop beer garden. Tucked beneath the shiny high-rises, the terrace’s hanging plants and fairy lights create the perfect atmosphere for post-work drinks.

Buffalo Bar, Brisbane City

Offering mouth-watering chicken wings, huge hoagies, craft beer and a large  array of whiskey, this slick all-American pub has a great courtyard-style beer garden. Keep your eye out for the massive buffalo mural and you’ll know you’re in the right spot.
