Bar hop between Brisbane's best whisky bars
Now, was that whisky or whiskey? Who cares if they’re both damn delicious.
For the uneducated, the spelling whisky is generally used for the hard liquor distilled in Scotland, Canada, Japan, Europe and here in Australia. Our friends in Ireland and America like to throw the extra ‘E’ in there, making it whiskey. So now you know.
Cobbler, West End

This small bar’s 400+ strong whisky list stacked up behind the bar will certainly keep you busy. Keep an eye out for regular whisky tastings and events (whisky degustation, anyone?). It’s open seven days a week in West End, and lets you BYO your own food.
The Gresham, Brisbane City

An old-world whisky saloon, The Gresham is Queensland’s only heritage-listed bar and has previously won Gourmet Traveller’s National Bar of Year. What we’re trying to say is it’s a great bar to order from the very extensive whisky and whisky cocktail list before sinking back into a dark chesterfield couch surrounded by rich mahogany furniture.
Nant, Brisbane City & Fortitude Valley
Brisbane’s first dedicated whisky bars, the two Nants hold more than 150 varieties from all around the world – think Scotland, India, Wales, Ireland and Japan. The Brisbane’s bars also act as cellar doors for the Tasmanian distiller’s prized whiskies.
Sabotage Social, Fortitude Valley

With skate decks lining the walls, leather chesterfield couches, and old school hip-hop playing on the turntables, Sabotage Social is bringing ‘90s funk back to Brisbane. The bar holds more than 50 varieties of whisky on its shelves.
Ahh, the unsuspecting pub-that-secretly-has-a-whisky-bar bar. Held within Woolloongabba’s The Morrison, Naked Whisky Bar holds more than 200 whiskies from around the world on its shelves.
Buffalo Bar, Brisbane City

Buffalo Bar has brought a little Americana spirit to the CBD. Head to Hank’s Whiskey Bar to discover the venue’s range of infused and barrel aged spirits. The Apple Pie cocktail with cinnamon whiskey sounds like a right treat.
Malt, Brisbane City
Step inside Wenley House and head up to the bar. Timber arches frame a glowing wall of whiskies and spirits with the building’s original timber floors adding to the charm.
