The humble Sunday session is a Brisbane tradition. With long summers, beautiful views and excellent beers, there’s no reason to close out the weekend inside or in sadness. Check out the list below for the best places to Sunday sesh in the River City.

Fortitude Valley 

Maya Mexican 

The rooftop courtyard we all know and love from eleven has been transformed, transporting you to Mexico’s riviera maya. You’re encouraged to #vacayeverysunday at their DISCO LOCO sunday sesh with live dj’s, musicians & freshly shucked oysters kicking off from 12pm until late. 

The Brunswick Hotel 

The Brunswick hotel offers a relaxed, friendly experience for your next Sunday sesh. Your favourite traditional pub fare, pizza and pasta selections plus cold beer and great company make for an equally great day. 

Mary Maes 

Sit by the river on a Sunday afternoon to enjoy the breeze, a menu of cocktails and a beautiful wine list. From midday on weekends live music kicks off. Dinner, drinks and a show.  

Sixes & Sevens 

Uniquely Queensland, sixes and sevens still describes itself as a public house. Intimate lounge spaces and long tables of reclaimed timber supplement the food and beverages that are simple, clever and designed to complement the everyday experience. Cider, beer on tap and wine served from the barrel in a carafe.  

Bloodhound Corner Bar & Kitchen 

Bloodhound’s custom built 10-tap copper font pours the liquid courage straight into the end of your weekend. Wines, spirits and cocktails are on offer, as you’d expect, in this heritage building with original features presented to the world. Try the upstairs bar for a view over Brunswick St.  

La dolce vita brunch @ Fiume 

Tantalise your taste buds and take in a 360° view if the Brisbane river with a 3-course brunch of local twists on italian favourites paired with a two-hour beverage package including brunch must-haves - Mimosas and Bloody Marys, as well as a selection of Fiume's signature cocktails, beers, and wines.

This hip neighbourhood locale serves simple but ever-changing food and drink options seven days a week. This 300-seat space rests right at the end of Caxton St., almost across from the Suncorp stadium. Grab something delicious to eat and kick back with friends and great drinks to laze away a Sunday arvo. 

The Paddo Tavern 

Home of the renowned sit down comedy club, the Paddo tavern is the quintessential haunt for a given fun Sunday session. Sundays host the creature of habit Sunday session with burgers, jugs of little creatures, free pool all day with a pool comp at 5pm and live music from 2pm. 

Libertine 

Serving Brisbane's best blend of French-Vietnamese cuisine, a Sunday sesh at libertine helps you relish an afternoon with the lads. Surrounded by decadent wallpapers, gold leaf embellishments, locally designed and recycled timber furniture, and chandeliered ceilings, you’ll feel as fancy as ever.

The Caxton Hotel 

A game day staple, the Caxton hotel will broadcast all the big sport live on the big screen and on monitors throughout the venue. Outdoor bars open prior to and after the match. Event day menu available in the café from 10am.

Customs House knows how to celebrate spring. Head to their stunning Moët rosé garden pop-up bar every open every sunday from 2pm-7pm and sip on refreshing moët rosé or a chandon cosmopolitan cocktail. While you're there treat yourself to the custom house bar staples - steamed duck buns, moreton bay bug croissants and truffle fries. 

Friday's Riverside 

Friday’s is among the best waterfront locations in Brisbane. A huge beverage list, local music, helpful staff and great company will help you wind down a weekend with a view.  

Blackbird 

Boasting a lush Gatsby-era décor, blackbird is your high-end Sunday sesh go-to. A strong seafood and steak menu focus complements river views while a "dark" and "light" bar reflects the atmosphere of 1920s prohibition speakeasies.

Joey’s is your answer to sippin’ spritzes cliffside this summer!
