Where to go pre and post game at The Gabba

Before or after cheering on your favourites at the AFL or cricket, take time to explore the sights, sounds and energy surrounding the Gabba.
Woolloongabba, the Aboriginal word for "meeting place", is just the right name for this bustling urban hub.
Celebrate with fellow fans
Ein bier bitte! With a beer terrace overlooking the grand Gabba stadium and a huge German beer hall with dining rooms inside, The Brisbane German Club is the perfect spot for a cheeky beer before the game or an easy choice for post-match celebrations.
Part of Brisbane’s pub scene for many years, The Pineapple Hotel has been nicknamed “The Piney”. Built in 1864, this iconic establishment has a popular steakhouse and bars for you to grab a drink pre-game and to kick on post-game.

One of the city’s most famous watering holes, the Story Bridge Hotel is extremely popular with pre and post-Gabba attendees thanks to its many different bars and variety of food on offer. If you can’t make it to the game, enjoy the game on one of the large screens in the beer garden.
Proudly “Brisbane’s worst vegetarian restaurant”, enjoy a drink and steak in the beer garden before or after the game. Select from the extensive beer, wine and cocktail list, then kick back and enjoy yourself.
Part of Brisbane’s pub scene since 1927, The Morrison is within walking distance of the Gabba. There are over 21 beers on tap, over 50 wines available and a selection of over 200 whiskies to choose from if you’re celebrating – or drowning your sorrows – post match.
The most recent addition to Kangaroo Point and Woolloongabba's buzzing bar scene is craft brewpub Sea Legs Brewing Co. The industrial-style warehouse located just a few metres from the iconic Story Bridge has transformed, allowing patrons to enjoy fresh brews, a stellar wine list and classic pub grub within the walls of a relaxed venue.
Brewhouse Brewery, Sports Bar and Grill offers eight award-winning craft beers that are made on site and available on tap. You can kick back and enjoy live entertainment on weekends, or if you can’t make it to the game but are still looking for the atmosphere, there are nine giant screens to enjoy it on.
After a quick schooner in a no-frills setting? The Australian National Hotel is a stone's throw from the ground and an easy spot to slip in a quick beer.
Enjoy a quiet drink
If the roar of crowds and excitement of the game has you wanting something quieter, then pop into one of these smaller bars before or after the game.
This is no regular little wine bar. Enjoy a Japanese inspired menu under the warm glow of the festoon lighting or grab a chair at the bar and peruse the stellar wine list curated by Chris Fullerton from Cork and Co. If wine ain't your thing, check out the cocktail selection, which features Japanese flavours of peach, ginger and lemongrass.
Settle into a cosy couch and take in the vintage-vibes all while sipping on fine small batch wines, spirits, craft beers and delicious cocktails – you might even leave with an unexpected vintage find.
Canvas is a cosy cocktail bar at the Gabba Fiveways precinct that serves a selection of boutique wines, craft beer and cocktails. It also has cheese boards and tapas.

Step back in time to a prominent era of Brisbane's history. Once a hotspot for antiques, the Gabba welcomes this tribute to the area's history. Drop into the bistro for a bite, kick on in the bar with 75 wines before heading upstairs for jazzy tunes in the secret whiskey bar... you have to find it for yourself.
Another great spot for a drink is the quaint bar Foxy Drop. A cafe by day, Foxy Bean ditches the eggs and unlocks the liquour cabinet in the evening.
Indulge
We bet a day of sport, sun and drinking as left you pretty hungry, so check out the local bistros and restaurants dishing up burgers, ribs, Italian and Asian food.

Taste the flavour of Italy at Ristorante La Famiglia, nestled in Trafalgar Lane. A modern Italian restaurant that takes the best of Italian cuisine, every bite will leave you wanting more.
Ribs, steaks and burgers. Is your mouth watering yet? Where honest food and genuine hospitality are priority, Ribs & Burgers offers up succulent and delectable meals in a cosy and welcoming atmosphere on the rear side of Trafalgar Lane.
Jump aboard the seafood express at Brisbane’s first American-style crabhouse. Put on your bibs and gloves and enjoy the casual atmosphere while tucking into fresh crustaceans. If seafood isn’t your thing, St James also serves chicken wings and slow-cooked ribs.

For something a little fancier, 1889 Enoteca serves up Roman fare alongside Woolloongabba's best wine list. With warm brick walls and romantic lighting to set the scene, 1889 Enoteca provides a dining experience like no other.
If it’s dinner and a show you’re after, why not visit Ben’s for delicious authentic Asian cuisine, followed by a karaoke session to celebrate your team’s win … or to drown your sorrows. Karaoke is good for both.
Breakfast Hotspots
If you want to kick off early in the day, Kangaroo Point and Woolloongabba have a number of brunch favourites to satisfy that rumbling stomach.

A classic choice for the area, Pawpaw Cafe has been serving up aesthetic and tasty breakfasts and mouth-watering Thai food for a number of years. Start your day with breakfast risotto or 'waffle-style' corn fritters all paired with a freshly brewed coffee.
Enjoy spectacular views of the Brisbane River as Medley Cafe & Restaurant fronts the quieter side of the point. Pull up a chair on the expansive deck to eat around the world with its exotic breakfast menu that includes a shakshuka, a la Mer, a big fat Greek breakfast and more.
If you're in a hurry, The Baker's Arms is great for a quick bite to eat. Croissants, freshly baked bread and sweet treats line the shelves, so good luck trying to choose something healthy for breakfast.
If you're wanting a picture perfect breakfast, then the loaded waffles from Tuckshop Time are sure to brighten up your Instagram feed. PB & J and Nutella are some of our favourite waffle flavours, all paired with a fairy floss, turmeric, velvet, Macha or superfood latte.

For a pre-game hunger cure, head to Brown Dog Cafe for great coffee in a fun atmosphere. Tucked away in Woolloongabba's industrial sector, Brown Dog has remained a local favourite thanks to its all-day breakfast with high-quality ingredients and low prices.
Another popular spot for breakfast, Pearl is set among heritage-listed houses and antique shops at the five-ways. The menu is heavy on classics with a twist, featuring dishes such as a mango ripple pancake, herbaceous omelette and avocado on house made corn bread.
