We’ve curated a special two-day itinerary below to help you make the most of our lifestyle city.

For those who can’t travel right now – add these urban adventures to your Brisbane bucket list.

Day one

Get to know the layout of the city through an engaging walking tour. Walk Brisbane’s Lee-Anne Harris will point out iconic landmarks, fascinating street art and hidden secrets that not even locals know about. Did you know Brisbane has hip laneways to explore? On the Laneways and Café tour, you’ll see why you need a guide to get a true taste of the city centre coffee scene. Prepare to be surprised by where you’ll find the best “hole in the wall” coffee haunts tucked away in Brisbane’s historic laneways, plus you’ll pick up some great tips on bars, cafes and restaurants for every budget. Walk Brisbane has a special offer: three people will get any small group walking tour for the price of two using promo code ‘SUNRISE’ when booking on their website.

It’s time to see for yourself why Brisbane is best experienced from the river by joining Mirimar Cruises for a cruise with a twist. The brand new Brisbane Twilight Cruise is unique to any other cruise on the river as it includes a visit to the famous and historic Brisbane Powerhouse, home to contemporary arts and culture. The cruise starts in the city with a welcome cocktail. Then relax and enjoy the beautiful sunset cityscape as you cruise along the river. On arrival at Brisbane Powerhouse, join a brief backstage tour and see things behind-the-scenes, not normally open to the general public. The tour ends in an exclusive space on a verandah overlooking the river with another complimentary drink and appetizers before a return cruise past the glittering city skyline. Save 10 per cent on this cruise by using the code ‘Twilight’ on this booking page.

If you’re staying in Brisbane between 4-26 September, make sure you book in a Brisbane Festival performance or watch out for inspiring outdoor installations, surprising street encounters and an epic new light and laser show that transforms the night-time city skyline. As the first major arts festival in Australia to return since COVID, Brisbane Festival’s “Boldly Brisbane” program will see 490 performances across 91 events, 73 of which are free. See our pick of the festival program here.

At Brisbane Powerhouse you can’t miss the energy and excitement that is Bris Fest. On arrival, you’ll be welcomed by a giant “Messengers of Brisbane” bird, one of six colourful Gouldian finches wearing party hats perched across the city, atop the foyer entrance. Then, as you wander inside you’ll see giant rainbow chandeliers above you, reminiscent of the zany landscapes in a Dr Seuss book. Check out the Powerhouse ‘what’s on’ program to choose from art and film installations, live performance, exhibitions, and magic and comedy shows.

Day two

Enjoy breakfast at your hotel before embarking on some serious retail therapy. Make tracks for Queen Street Mall for international brands, flagship stores and heritage arcades. Saunter down James Street in Fortitude Valley for local designers and homewares while Paddington is popular for antiques and collectibles.

Step out of the elevator to a  Mexican-inspired restaurant in the sky – MAYA. Newly opened in July, this sky-high oasis in Fortitude Valley has jaw-dropping views of Brisbane city, and is open-air with the clear blue skies above. Gorgeous white palette interiors will see you sitting in a breezy curtained booth, surrounded by olive trees and more cactus plants than you can count. Share colourful fresh plates of Mexican street fare food and choose from marvellous margaritas, including refreshing watermelon and chilli mango.

Book into West End’s Brisbane Distillery Company for “Gin School”, where you can undertake a Master’s Distillers Experience and customise your gin. Choose from 130-plus botanicals displayed in seemingly endless shelves of jars. You’ll want to be decisive as there’s more than 10 billion unique flavour combinations you can potentially devise! Then head over to the “work” benches adorned with rows of miniature copper stills waiting to create your masterpiece in. The outcome de ’resistance is your own gin creation all bottled up as a lovely souvenir. Plus you can boast to friends that you are now a master distiller!

What a way to finish your stay.
