A new journey of discovery on offer at Wynnum-Manly
27 August 2015
Wynnum-Manly’s indigenous culture and stories will be unlocked with free bayside walking tours.
Whether you’re new to the area or a local, a Brisbane Greeter will guide you through the walks and treat you to the stories and sights of the region.
The walking trails have been developed with the Quandamooka community as part of the Quandamooka Festival.
Quandamooka is the traditional home country of the area’s indigenous people, and takes in the spectacular Moreton Bay and Redlands.
The tours will highlight the area’s traditional culture, with unique insights into the continuing culture of the Nughi, Nunukul and Goenpul clans.
The Greeter volunteers worked with Quandamooka representatives to ensure tours will be delivered in a culturally appropriate and respectful manner.
The Quandamooka Festival is overseen by the Quandamooka Yoolooburrabee Aboriginal Corporation (QYAC). The new greets will complement existing tours run by the Quandamooka people.
The tours will run during September.
