Walking and Cycling are a great way to explore Brisbane, as its compact and connected with walkways and bridges linking South Bank to the nearby contemporary arts precinct and the heart of the city just across the river.
If you really want to get to know a city, walk. Brisbane is one of those easily accessible capitals where you can throw on a pair of shoes and just wander for miles and miles. The city boasts a number of interesting walking trails themed around Public Art, Heritage, City Centre Trees and the Brisbane River.
With its temperate sub-tropical climate, Brisbane is a cycler’s paradise. There’s a range of lovely bikeways, such as those along the river, for those who prefer peddle power. Grab your own bike, or you can hire one from one of the many CityCycle bike hire station’s around the place. There’s also plenty of cycle stations, bike racks, shelters and even a cycle centre at King George Square.
