Bakehouse Steakhouse
Corner Darling Street East and West Street, Woodend, Queensland 4305
The former Haley’s Bakery, built in 1875, is now home to one of Ipswich's premier dining experiences, the Bakehouse Steakhouse restaurant.
Owners Nick, Alastair and Chris Stevenson gave the site a completely transformative contemporary make-over while keeping its heritage bones intact. The original oven can still be seen in the restaurant. The result is a modern yet character-filled restaurant and bar with a private dining room and a large outdoor area at the back, perfect for kicking back on sunny afternoons with a mojito.
The family has a background in the meat industry, running Gillies Small Goods at Redcliffe and Collins Wholesale Meats at Lowood, and the emphasis here is on steak. Chef Josh Lawson and his team handle the different steak cuts with expert care, serving them with fries and a green salad, with a variety of sides available.
The bar is well stocked, and cocktails are also a specialty. Watch the Facebook page for upcoming events and special nights like T-Bone Tuesday and Wagyu Wednesday, which have proven a great hit with diners.
Bakehouse Steakhouse is open for lunch and dinner seven days. Bookings and walk-ins accepted.
