Hospital Parking - Visit Brisbane

Brisbane Hospital Parking

Royal Children's Hospital parking

Visitors to Brisbane’s inner-city hospitals are well catered for, with some venues offering multiple options. Some car parks are owned and operated by the hospital itself, while others are privately run.

Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital (Herston permit area)

The RBWH at Herston sits between the RNA Showgrounds, Ballymore stadium and the QUT campus at Kelvin Grove. Two on-site parking facilities are provided at the hospital for patients, visitors and employees.

Parking around the Herston area and the hospital complex is regulated. There is no parking for visitors on the hospital grounds. Parking in nearby streets is controlled. Some metered parking is available.

Three multi-storey car parks are available for patients, visitors and staff at the Herston campus. These are all undercover and operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week. As they are privately owned, charges apply.

The Metro car park is in Butterfield St, next to the Ned Hanlon Building, and is the closest car park to the main hospital area. An undercover walkway links this car park to level one of the Ned Hanlon Building (centre block).

The Wilson car park is at the junction of Gilchrist Ave and Herston Rd and is the closest to the mental health building. The Royal Children's Hospital Metro car park is in Bramston Tce and is the closest parking station to the hospital.

Princess Alexandra Hospital (Woolloongabba)

There are two privately operated car parks close to the Princess Alexandra Hospital.

The Metro multi-storey car park is on the city side of the hospital, on the corner of Ipswich Rd and O'Keefe St.

The PA Parking multi-storey car park is opposite the main hospital building, in Ipswich Rd (entry off Wolseley St). There is a link-way over Ipswich Rd and then a short walk to the main foyer of the hospital. For information on rates, phone 3391 7884. Brisbane City Council restrictions apply in all streets surrounding the hospital.

Disabled parking

The PA encourages drivers to drop off patients with disabilities at the front entrance of the main hospital building, and then proceed to one of the privately operated parking facilities. Alternatively, people with a Disabled Parking permit can park in designated bays on level four of the Metro multi-storey car park on the corner of Ipswich Rd and O'Keefe St. A link-way from this car park leads to the main foyer of the hospital.

Mater Hospital (South Brisbane)

Mater Health Services owns and operates three multi-storey car parks on the South Brisbane campus: Hancock St, Mater Hill (East and West) and at the Mater Medical Centre. These are open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Ticket options for visitors and patients are: daily parking ticket; five-exit card; three-day card; and five-day card.

Wesley Hospital (Auchenflower)

The hospital is surrounded by the residential streets of Auchenflower, and a residential parking permit area has been created to ensure on-street parking is easily accessible to people who live in that zone. However, the Wesley has a large, multi-storey car park. You will need to pay and receive an exit pass at one of the automated pay stations before returning to your car.

Rates are: 0-30 minutes, $5; 30-60mins, $9; 60-90mins, $14; 90-120mins, $16; 120-150mins, $18; 150-180mins, $19; 180-240mins, $20; more than 240mins, $22; day pass (multiple entry and exit), $25; five-day pass, $70. Maximum car-park height is 2m.
