Green Flag Award - Roma Street Parkland
Roma Street Parkland has been voted in the world’s top ten Green Flag Award parks! The parkland is one of nine locations in Australia to hold the 2020/2021 Green Flag Award, an international accreditation given to the world’s best green spaces.
To qualify for the award, the Parkland was judged against eight key selection criteria; being a welcoming place, being healthy, safe and secure, being clean and well maintained, sustainability, conservation and heritage, community involvement, marketing and management.
The award process is stringent and demonstrates that Roma Street Parkland boasts the highest possible standards, is beautifully maintained and has excellent facilities.
It is Roma Street Parkland' seventh consecutive year of receiving the award! It recognises the dedicated staff and volunteers who work tirelessly to maintain the parkland.
Other parks to have won the award around the globe for 2020/2021 include South Bank Parklands in Brisbane, Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in London, Sydney’s Centennial Park and Te Mata Park in Hawkes Bay, New Zealand.
To maintain Green Flag Award status, Roma Street Parkland must undergo an annual benchmarking process from international accreditors. For more information about the Green Flag Award, head to their website.
