Top things to do at the Brisbane Thai Festival

Be transported to tropical Thailand at the annual Brisbane Thai Festival, held in the leafy surrounds of Roma Street Parkland on Sunday 15 September from 10am - 7pm.

Pad Thai

The festival, organised by the Thai-Australian Association of Queensland Inc (TAAQ), celebrates Thai culture, cuisine and traditions, while acknowledging and strengthening Thai-Australian relations.

So, ready yourself for a day complete with Thai dances, live music, delicious dishes, sporting demonstrations, displays and more!

Food

Pack a picnic blanket, perch up on a patch of green grass and taste test the mouth-watering fusion of sweet, sour, salty, spicy and bitter flavours- a signature of exotic Thai cuisine.

Expect an abundance of Thai delicacies from the surrounding market stalls, such as pad Thai noodles from Thai Silver Key, massaman beef curry from Princess Thai Town Square or herbed crispy vermicelli from Palida Palace.

To complete your flavour experience, there will be a range of desserts to satisfy every palate, such as sweet sticky rice and deep fried ice-cream from Thai Tasty as well as coconut ice-cream from Siam Garden Thai.

Thai Festival kindly ask that you bring your own reusable/recyclable products, such as cups and straws, so that Roma Street Parkland remains as clean as possible on the day.

Entertainment

Witness the skills and techniques of trained Muay Thai boxers in displays of the combat sport. Or, simply sit back, relax and enjoy live music from local band, Siam LaMoon plus traditional folk arrangements from Phonsapon Upani and Tontrakul Kaewyong. As well, mesmerising customary and contemporary Thai dancing will take place throughout the day from Australian and Thai dance troupes.
