What's on at Kids Collective - Roma Street Parkland

Finding things to do during the school holidays doesn’t have to be a challenge, Kids Collective at Roma Street Parkland have done all of the hard work for you! Kids Collective is the new name for school holiday activities at Roma Street Parkland, previously known as Sprouts in the Park.

During school holidays, the parkland is buzzing with free activities for kids aged 5-12 years old – soak up some fresh air while growing your own seedling, kicking a soccer ball, creating your own arts and craft masterpiece plus more.

Activities are held from 9am-1pm, Thursday to Saturday, during school holidays. There are two classes to choose from on any given day and bookings are not required. Not sure what time you’ll make it? That’s ok – classes are re-set at regular intervals, so you can come and go as you please. There’s also food trucks on site if you want to grab a bite to eat during your visit.

To plan your day, check out the program below. Activities change every holidays, so there’s always something new to try. And don’t forget – if you have young kids to entertain, Kids Collective at South Bank Parklands (designed for kids aged 0-5) is on Thursdays from 9am-1pm. Please note that due to seasonal events, Kids Collective is not on at Roma Street Parkland or South Bank during December and January.

Thursday 11 April 2019, 9am – 1pm

Get Creative: Seed pots at Children’s Garden Lawn
Kids will get their hands dirty creating their own recycled paper mulch plant pot filled with soil and a choice of seeds. The pots can then be decorated with paint and glitter and placed in a carry bag to head home and watch the seeds grow.

Musical Play: Ukulele lessons at Amphitheatre Stage
In this session kids will enjoy playing musical games and will learn to play the ukulele, including holding techniques, strumming patterns and chords. This fun session concludes with a concert hosted by the kids.

Friday 12 April 2019, 9am – 1pm

Soccer Play at Celebration Lawn
During this energetic set of games, kids are shown the basics of soccer in a fun and friendly setting. Attendees will learn kicking, catching, running and more. These games are great for coordination skills, as well as learning about teamwork. 

Puppet Shows and Performance Workshops at Banyan Lawn
Kids will be entertained with colourful and exciting puppet shows including sings, skits, jokes, games and live interaction with the audience. There will also be workshops for kids aged 5 and over to teach kids how to perform with puppets.

Saturday 13 April 2019, 9am – 1pm

Get Creative: Easter Craft at Children’s Lawn
Hop into Easter time with some Easter themed arts and crafts! Kids can make their own bunny finger puppet or decorate Easter eggs with colourful designs. 

Nature Play: Outdoor Activities at Children’s Garden
Kids can get moving with races around the Children’s Garden, costume dress ups and cubby building. There will also be a scavenger hunt to find and collect supplies to make their own jewellery. All family members are welcome to participate.

Thursday 18 April, 9am – 1pm

Saturday 20 April, 9am – 1pm

Hop along and join the Easter fun! Kids can make an Easter basket ready for all the excitement of Easter morning and an origami bunny bookmark, so they will never lose their place when reading during the holiday.

Nature Play: Outdoor Activities at Children’s Garden
Kids can get moving with races around the Children’s Garden, costume dress ups and cubby building. There will also be a scavenger hunt to find and collect supplies to make their own jewellery. All family members are welcome to participate.
