Large open spaces, picnic facilities with free electric barbecues and a fun playground for the children are just some of the free recreation facilities we have within the Parkland for visitors to enjoy all year round.

Picnic, barbecue facilities and wet areas

Brisbane’s best views are on the table for your next meal at Roma Street Parkland, check out all the great places you can picnic in the Parkland. Fun fact – many of them have free barbeques (there are 15 throughout the parkland) and two spaces are licensed wet areas. BBQs throughout the parkland are available on a first come, first served basis. Visitors are requested to move away to their picnic area when finished cooking to allow others to utilise the facilities.

Take a seat! Kicking up your feet has never been easier – just stop by Roma Street Parkland for a stint on one of our colourful deckchairs. As part of the Brisbane City Council’s Chairs2Share program, visitors can recline in chairs along the Lake Precinct and on Banyan Lawn from 10am – 4pm every day, weather permitting.

When we say we offer fun for all ages, we’re not kidding – bring the little ones down to Roma Street Parkland for first-rate play on our innovative playgrounds! There are two playgrounds in total, both located along Weeping Fig Avenue (and yes, it’s as pretty as it sounds!). The aesthetic inspiration of both playgrounds come from the spectacular lush surrounds and are designed to encourage kids to let their imagination run wild as they play, explore and grow.
