Whether you’re in search of adventure, a fun day out, or even just a spot to enjoy your meal, Roma Street Parkland is the place to be! The Parkland is open year-round, all day and night (except the Spectacle Garden and Rainforest walk which is open from dawn until dusk, daily) and offers a huge range of free facilities (including barbeques) for tourists and locals alike.
If you’re not sure where to start, our helpful volunteers are happy to show you the ropes – drop into the Parklands’ Information Booth located at The Hub and ask away. Or, you can find your bearings with our handy online map. Two locations in the Parkland are also licensed, so you can enjoy a cool drink with your meal while you soak up the serenity.
Brisbane’s best views are on the table for your next meal at Roma Street Parkland. Fun fact – many of them have free barbeques (there are 15 throughout the parkland) and two spaces are licensed wet areas. BBQs throughout the parkland are available on a first come, first served basis. Visitors are requested to move away to their picnic area when finished cooking to allow others to utilise the facilities.
When we say we offer fun for all ages, we’re not kidding – bring the little ones down to Roma Street Parkland for first-rate play on our innovative playgrounds! There are two playgrounds in total, both located along Weeping Fig Avenue (and yes, it’s as pretty as it sounds!).
If you are looking to explore the Parkland but don’t know where to start, check out our walking tour options so you don’t miss a thing. With three walking tour options available you can see the park either by yourself or with a guide. Whether you would rather have an experienced volunteer show you all the hidden gems and talk you through the history of the park or you’d prefer to walk at through your own pace and stop for pictures along the way or possibly even looking for a big group walking tour – you can do it all.
Running out of steam or simply want to have some fun? Take in the sights on our trackless train! The famous Parkland Explorer takes visitors on a family-friendly tour of the Parkland’s top sights. Hop aboard at the train stop at Forest Meadow for a 15-minute excursion with fascinating commentary along the way.
For a tour the whole family will love, make Roma Street Parkland your next stop. The Parkland Explorer operates every Wednesday to Sunday, and you only need a gold coin contribution per person to join the tour. This train is dependent on volunteer availability and weather forecasts, so keep an eye out on the Roma Street Parkland Facebook page where we will notify of any cancellations.
