Nodo is the new kid on the block and renowned for its mouth-watering donuts. Every baked good is cooked using artisan methods and naturally gluten free ingredients - Nodo’s delicious ‘baked not fried’ donuts are suitable in the AM (try their breakfast donut!) and into the PM. As well, the busy store serves up acai bowls, beach bennys and the mighty avo.
Known and loved for their filling and flavoursome burritos, Guzman Y Gomez now also boasts a combination of tantalising breakfast burritos at South Bank - quick and easy to order means this item is well suited to the mad morning rush. Made with fluffy rice, jack cheese, beans and house-made salsa, then complete with your own choice of filling and wrapped in a soft flour tortilla. Guzman will also throw in a barista coffee for an extra $1!
Lost Bean is a bustling hub full of South Bank office workers every morning, eager for their caffeine fix and take away savoury bite. Not only is their coffee one of the most favoured on Grey Street, they also host an assortment of your tasty breaky classics.
A mecca for cyclists, Espresso Garage is a bustling café situated in a breezeway on Little Stanley Street. They specialize in the cheap and cheerful – whether you’re after bagels, toasts, smoothies or just a really good coffee.
Paying a visit to Nonna’s Deli is like getting a big warm hug from your grandmother; the cosy interior makes this Deli the perfect place to catch-ups with friends, especially if you’re short on time, cash or both. All items are cheap and ready-to-go, with freshly-made bagels and piadinas (an Italian-style of flatbread) plus pastries, frittatas and toasts.
If you have a sweet tooth (even in the morning) Cowch is your breakfast destination! Open daily from 7am, you can grab enough sweet treats to sink a ship – think Nutella French toast, smoothie bowls, parfaits and more. Venturing out with a savoury tooth? There’s also toasts, breakfast pizzas, smashes and more.
Breakfast is available daily at Barbossa, South Bank’s very own Caribbean-inspired eatery. Barbossa has a decidedly tropical feel, so you can relax and get into a holiday-groove while you enjoy your bacon and eggs; or perhaps their vegan veggie bowl is just what you’ve been craving.
They’re famous for their beer, but The Charming Squire also keeps tummies content in the breakfast department. Their Brewer’s Pantry serves up all the classics - house made granola, Belgium waffles and eggs benedict, seven days a week in their cool, industrial surrounds.
Want to make your breakfast the all-day variety? Denim’s breakfast menu is available until 3pm, so you can enjoy a big breaky later in the day, or perhaps some green eggs – pesto scrambled eggs, basil and blistered tomatoes on toasted rye. Denim’s well-known jaffles are also available with classic filings like Vegemite and gooey cheese.

If only breakfast with a view can sate your appetite, head to Southbeach Social. It overlooks the sparkling Streets Beach and offers all of the classics – avo smash, eggs benedict, bacon and eggs and more. Vegetarians are also well catered for here, as well as littlies.
