With water spouts and fountains, bush stream and shallow lagoon pool, as well as interactive and educational play elements, Aquativity is a great place for the whole family. There is plenty of shady seating and grassy areas too, so bring a packed picnic or grab a bite from one of the cafes nearby and enjoy a day at a waterpark in the heart of the city.
Barbecue at Riverside Green
Head on down to Riverside Green and find a spot on the lush green grass, fire up a barbeque, watch the kids entertain themselves at the playground, and take in the spectacular views of the river. It really is the perfect spot for a family outing and best of all, it’s free!
Little Days Out
Hosted at various locations throughout the Parklands, Little Days Out offers a free program of kids' activities every Thursday and Sunday, 9am-1pm. Activities include gardening workshops, puppet shows, music and dancing sessions, arts and craft, and kids sports which are designed to suit a variety of age groups.
Discover the Queensland Museum
There is always something new to discover at the Queensland Museum. As well as the resident attractions including dinosaur models and fossils, historical machinery, scenes of extinct Australian wildlife, and collections of historical Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artifacts, there are exciting and educational touring exhibitions that the whole family will enjoy. Visit Epicurious and Rain Bank
Rain Bank is South Bank’s multi-award winning urban stormwater harvesting and reuse centre. Head along to its viewing deck to teach the little ones about water recycling and to see the tanks in action. Then pop on over to Epicurious Garden (that uses Rain Bank water!) to discover the huge variety of seasonal plants including fruits, vegetables, herbs and flowers in this beautifully designed plot of produce.
