Notice of Cultural Forecourt works

Cultural Forecourt

To ensure that the Cultural Forecourt remains a best-practice, mixed-use space, refurbishment works will be conducted from Monday 9 October 2017 to April 2018, weather permitting.

The works are designed to better facilitate pedestrian, event and vehicular access to the space, and will include new signage, new lighting, new landscaping and the installation of bollards and entry walls along the main entry ways at Russell Street, the QPAC ring road and the Clem Jones Promenade.

Works will take place from 7am-6pm, Monday to Friday, with occasional night and weekend works. The Cultural Forecourt will remain partially open during these works, but to ensure that they are conducted safely, localised areas will be closed throughout. Please note that these refurbishment works may generate some noise and dust, but control measures are in place to reduce the impact on the public. Please also note that due to these works, the BRISBANE sign will be visible, but inaccessible to the public until late March/early April 2018.

Cyclists please note: Construction zones for this project extend to the lower Promenade, from mid-March through to April 2018, weather permitting. There is no access to the Victoria Bridge, when approaching from the South Bank Parklands Promenade, for the duration of works. A diversion will be in place along the Cultural Forecourt, into the Stanley Street tunnel and then under the Victoria Bridge and onto boardwalk ramp to access the CBD. Cyclists approaching from Kangaroo Point are encouraged to use the Goodwill Bridge to access the CBD until construction is completed.

Thank you for your patience during these works. If you have any questions, please contact South Bank on [email protected] or 07 3156 366.
