Pre-show dining at South Bank
If you’re heading to QPAC to see a show, or the Queensland Museum or GOMA for a special "up late" event, or even to BCEC for a concert, there are some fantastic pre-show dinner options on offer at South Bank to suit every taste.
A great spot for a bite before your matinee or evening show, Champ is located beneath the ABC building in a peaceful setting, with a view of the Wheel of Brisbane and South Bank Parklands. Pre-show drinks packages are available to complement your meal.
Situated within QPAC, Lyrebird offers modern European-inspired cuisine with an al a carte dinner menu, as well as set menus at $70pp for two courses and $85pp for three. For a more casual pre-show meal, head directly across the path to QPAC’s Bistro. Opening hours are on prior to performances, exceptions apply.
Just behind QPAC and underneath BCEC on Grey St is James Squire Brewhouse - The Charming Squire. Head to the restaurant for a full menu of share plates and gourmet "pub-inspired" dishes including a full steak menu, or head to The Brewers Pantry for a more casual dining experience and try the pizzas, small plates, burgers, salads and more.
Despite the name, this is not just a pizzeria. There is a great range of pizzas, but if you feel like something lighter, or more hearty, there’s a wonderful selection of traditional Italian antipasti, primi, secondi and dolci (dessert). And the kitchen stays open from lunch til late so you won’t have an issue trying to get an early dinner.
Offering a casual and relaxed dining experience, The Fox Hotel on Melbourne Street is in close proximity to BCEC, Queensland Museum and QPAC. The Trocadero Long Bar serves traditional pub fare, share plates, pizzas, burgers and more.
