Raise a glass to South Bank's top wine spots

Wine time

Whether you’re a slave to chardonnay or tend to rally around your rosé, some quality time with your fave wine can be the highlight of the working week. For those keen to dodge the boss, turn lunch into a long affair, or find the perfect pair to that post-work dinner, why not check out these South Bank spots?

Lyrebird Restaurant

If you’re catching a show (or just staging a date with the tiramisu), QPAC’s Lyrebird Restaurant will raise the curtain on your next night out. Stage a date with the slow-braised beef cheek and your favourite drop – and trust us, you’ll be begging for an encore.

With stunning lawns and some of the city’s best riverside scenery, the views at South Bank’s River Quay are practically impossible to top … unless there’s a bottle of wine and Popolo pizza in the forefront, that is! No Italian feast is complete without a wine glass in hand, so pour away (and pray it distracts the other diners from the four-dozen arancini you’ve just inhaled!).

The Sangria Bar
It’s time to tapas into your inner wine connoisseur! This tapas-themed bar boasts all the reds, whites and rosés your next Spanish feast could want for. Of course, the spot’s signature tipple is the sangria – and hey, adding fruit to your wine practically makes it diet-friendly, right?

Soleil Pool Bar
Forget glasses of wine around the coffee table: Soleil’s permanent pool party invite is set on the podium level of South Bank’s Rydges Hotel. Water you waiting for? Dive into your next night out with glasses of crisp wine, poolside chats, and more Peking duck spring rolls than you may care to admit.

Stoke Bar
You’re bound to be stoked about this wine-time spot! Take your post-work tipples to Stokehouse Q’s open deck and pair the night’s bottle with some of South Bank’s most enchanting views.
