Raise a glass to South Bank's top wine spots

Bar culture at South Bank has upped its game, delivering casual cool and stylish sophistication. From intimate hole-in-the-wall venues to those with show-stopping, big-city views, there’s something to suit all tastes.

The Jetty South Bank

The Jetty

With uninterrupted city views across Brisbane River, The Jetty at River Quay is the perfect place to watch the world go by. Whether you take in the sights from a high stool vantage point or grab a table to take your time, The Jetty has an extensive range of fine Australian and international wines, champagnes, cocktails and beer on tap. Hot tip: arrive early and watch the sun set.

Stokebar Q

Casual sophistication with a knockout view, Stokebar Q at River Quay is a sweet spot to while away the afternoon or celebrate the end of the working week with friends. With DJ tunes setting a cool scene on Fridays from 4pm and Sundays from 2pm, Stokebar Q is perfect for a glass of wine and a delicious share plate.

This intimate bar at the end of Fish Lane proves big isn’t always better. With its minimalist black interior and dramatic brass bar running the length of this 18-seater space, Maker is not only intimate and cool, but also delivers a top quality wine list and seasonal cocktails big on innovation. An equally creative bar food menu is on offer and supplied by neighbouring restaurant Gauge, also owned by Maker owner Jerome Batten.

Ole Restaurant

Ole brings the energy of the streets of Spain as the night comes alive to its tapas and sangria bar on Little Stanley Street. Explore the extensive range of sangria flavour combinations on offer, as well as cocktails and Spanish beers and wines, paired with a tasty selection of tapas plates.

La Lune Wine Co

If you find yourself mind-travelling to the chic wine bars of your European adventures, you may just love La Lune Wine Co to La Lune and back! The French-inspired brainchild of Brisbane chef Paul McGivern, La Lune Wine Co is stylish, but not stuffy. There are more than 120 wines to choose from, and a selection of special seasonal dishes. But if the size of the wine list makes your head spin before you even take your first sip, just ask one of the friendly, knowledgeable staff for a recommendation.

Maeve Wine

Inspired by the European culture of late-night walk in cafes and bars, Maeve offers guests a heritage space within 1929 classism architecture. Created by three women, based on their love for wine and warm hospitality, Maeve Wine has an extensive and ever-changing wine list to suit the most discerning customer.
