South Bank's best beer haunts

Beer is a serious business – when you finally knock off after a long day or week, the last thing you want to do is waste your preciously earned beer-time on a disappointing venue. Fortunately, South Bank is bursting with beer-focused bars to suit all tastes and budgets.

The Charming Squire

The Charming Squire

This top-notch venue is also South Bank’s very own micro-brewery. They brew plenty of unique beers throughout the year that can only be tasted onsite and also serve up a range of delicious on-tap beers created by parent company, James Squire.

Tippler’s Tap

The crew at Tippler’s Tap are famous for their extensive craft beer menu and in-depth product knowledge. Choose from goldens, ales, wheats, ambers and lagers, just to name a few! Independent craft beer is on constant rotation on tap, plus a solid selection of bottled beer.

Hop and Pickle

Hop and Pickle has a traditional beer menu featuring household names such as 4 Pines, Peroni, Asahi and Corona with a rotation of beers also on tap. Our tip is to pop in on a Sunday and pair your beer with a delectable Sunday roast.

Munich Brauhaus South Bank

Munich Brauhaus

It’s like Oktoberfest every day at Munich Brauhaus. Styled as a traditional Bavarian bierhaus, go big with a stein of German beer complemented with hearty meals like pork knuckles and schnitzels. Beer is also served in the unique Das Boot, a 1 litre glass boot or your own beer tube filled with 2 litres of your choice of beer.

Southbank Beer Garden

The name says it all – this haunt is all about the sheer joy of beer! With stunning views of Streets Beach, the CBD and the Brisbane River, you’ll love kicking back at Southbank Beer Garden with an icy cold one. They also sell yummy eats including burgers, share plates and steak.

Harajuku Gyoza

Beer + gyoza = heaven. Named after the popular district in Tokyo, Harajuku Gyoza fittingly serves Japanese favourites like Kirin and Koshihikari Rice Beer, all to be eaten with piping-hot plates of savoury and sweet gyoza.
