This family owned Italian restaurant group create their dishes with love and a true passion for Mediterranean gourmet food and they want to pass on their cooking hacks too, hosting regular masterclasses for their guests - so you too can craft the perfect pizza! And what’s better, to help cure that Mondayitis Salt Meats Cheese offer unlimited pizza and pasta every Monday from 5pm for $20 per person - now that’s molto bene!

Not only does Popolo more than deliver on authentic Italian flavour, but with sweeping views of the river and city too, it’s a firm favourite. Popolo means people, and the team at Popolo are all about serving sensational pizzas, sumptuous share plates and delicious desserts to you and your favourite peeps. For something different, why not book a picnic? The Popolo team will provide the picnic rug and deliver a tasty basket to you at River Quay Green, filled with antipasto—think calamari fritti and arancini, cheeses and breads—as well as freshly cooked pizzas and wine. Bellisimo! 

The Spaghetti House Trattoria 

Serving rustic Italian fare best shared with people you love, The Spaghetti House Trattoria, located opposite South Bank’s Piazza is the perfect spot to soak up the afternoon sun with a glass of wine and a serving of mussels in chilli, tomato and garlic. Many followers from the restaurant’s West End days won’t go past the house special of prosciutto-wrapped figs with a gorgonzola fondue, or a hearty serve of pork and veal meatballs. With gluten free, vegetarian, vegan, and kids’ options, there’s something delicious for everyone.

Just down the road at Fish Lane, you’ll find Julius Pizzeria, where less is more and super delicious. They don’t take bookings after 6pm, so you may need to pull up at the bar and sit on an Aperol Spritz while you peruse the extensive menu—from antipasti featuring fried zucchini flowers stuffed with soft herb ricotta, truffled honey and pecorino, and outstanding pizzas like the tartufo (mozzarella, smoked bacon, Portobello mushrooms, stracchino and truffle paste), to a quality range of pastas cooked al dente, and an irresistible dessert menu. As they say, ‘come early, come often!’

Papa Rossi 

Authentic Italian food and a warm, friendly welcome, Papa Rossi delivers down-to-earth Italian goodness in generous serves that are big on flavour. With a breakfast menu operating until 2pm, you can linger over coffee and buttermilk and ricotta pancakes, or crispy corn and crab fritters. Stay a little longer for a lightly crumbed chicken schnitzel for lunch, or try a linguini with Moreton Bay bugs for dinner. Of course, all of your traditional favourites are on the menu too with a wide range of pizzas, lasagne, Bolognese or veal scaloppini in papa’s Napoli sauce.

Back up on Grey Street, you’ll find Mister Paganini. Known to be a little bit cheeky and a whole lot of fun, Mister Paganini focuses on great produce prepared simply so the flavours sing. Their piping hot pizzas are cooked to perfection in an oven brought over especially from Naples for the job. Mister Paganini is casual and welcoming and the food delivers on all your Italian cravings. Start with marinated, warm Italian olives, move on to a king prawn linguini or the simple beauty of a wood-fired margherita pizza, and round things out with a silky panna cotta with fresh berries.
