Things you can't miss at South Bank's Christmas celebrations
This Christmas, relish in a richly deserved festive experience at South Bank Parklands. From 1 December, meander the renowned Arbour trail and immerse in a twinkling tunnel of fairy lights, then, from 18- 23 December enjoy an abundance of premium events and activities across the precinct, suited to all ages.

This festive season, the South Bank Piazza will be home to the Christmas Tree Spectacular – an enthralling Christmas Variety Show, guaranteed to ignite excitement for the ‘Most Wonderful Time of the Year’. The production will highlight some of Brisbane’s best musicians and performers as they sing, dance and practice circus acts across an 8m high curated Christmas Tree. Performances will take place twice nightly, at 5.30-6.15pm and 7.30-8.15pm.
Pack a picnic, pull up a rug and settle in for the evening at River Quay Green and delight in a free cinematic experience at the outdoor Christmas Cinema. Movie-goers can enjoy a child friendly flick at 6.00pm, while the 8.00pm session makes for the perfect date night or evening with friends. The surrounding eateries will also provide premium takeaway bites into the evening, washed down with your favourite sundowner in hand. Wind down into the Christmas season and round up your loved ones for an evening of live performances at Festive Beats, taking place on Little Stanley Street Lawns and River Quay. From 4.00pm to 9.45pm, delight in the smooth vocals of 30 different local artists as they serenade guests with original tunes and cheerful Christmas covers, with no one artist performing twice across the program. While you’re visiting, be sure to savour the flavours of Little Stanley Street’s stalwart restaurants, taking reservations throughout the Christmas program.
Pay a visit to Santa’s Stopover at Flowstate from 4.00pm to 9.30pm and gaze upon Mr and Mrs Claus as they spread Christmas cheer over South Bank Parklands from their festive sleigh. Littlies will have the opportunity to get a photograph with Santa, set amongst a magnificent towering fig tree and light installation. Santa’s Stopover is free to enjoy; however, guests will be required to register their details on the night in adherence to the COVID Safe Event Plan, approved by Queensland Health. Across the green, from 4.00pm to 8.45pm, kids craft and storytelling will entertain children on Flowstate Lawns. Here, kids will have the opportunity to create their very own wombat crowns and Santa’s elves will recite their favourite storybook tales. Kids Craft & Storytelling is free to enjoy; however, guests will be required to register their details on the night in adherence to the COVID Safe Event Plan, approved by Queensland Health. The Collective Markets – Christmas Edition, presented by South Bank Corporation
The Collective Markets will return to their home on Little Stanley Street and Stanley Street Plaza from 10.00am- 10.00pm to showcase a wealth of Christmas gifts and bites by independent retailers, unique to South Bank.
South Bank Parkland’s Christmas program will take place every evening from 18- 23 December 2020. Check-in is required on entry into all events and activities and check-out when exiting to manage crowd numbers. Free tickets must be obtained to take part in Santa’s Stopover and Kids Craft & Storytelling. The ticket booth will open one hour prior to scheduled activities at Flowstate, session times outlined in relevant event sections above.
